A Connected Life

Breathing Magic into Today: A Father's Day Reflection

It's 8:59 AM on a peaceful Sunday, June 15th, 2025, and I'm settling into my usual Starbucks spot here in Belleville. The aroma of fresh coffee, the quiet hum of conversation – it’s a familiar comfort that invites reflection. What magic can we breathe into today? What can we choose to love, and how can we approach things just a little differently? For these moments of possibility, I am truly grateful.

The past few days, I've felt a bit off-kilter, a little out of sync. But last night brought a welcome change: a solid seven and a half hours of sleep. After a week where I might have accumulated that much total, this feels like a luxurious reset button. Sleep, that essential period when our bodies regenerate and minds reset, is something I'm deeply appreciating today. It's a reminder to trust the process, to trust the universe, and to lean into a new way of being, which includes forgiving myself and others.

The Blank Page and the Creative Spirit

Even with better sleep, sometimes the words just don't flow. Today, my mind feels like a blank slate, clean and empty. As a creative, you learn to power through these moments, to sit down and create even when the inspiration feels miles away. It's about looking in the mirror and loving the person looking back, no matter what. It’s about trusting that even a blank canvas holds infinite possibilities.

Today, I want to write a new story, one filled with love for all fathers on this special day. The thought of becoming a father myself is an interesting question that surfaces. It's a significant path, and I know I have a lot of personal growth and experiences ahead of me before that chapter might begin. If it's meant to happen, it will, and if not, that’s okay too.

Lessons from a Father: Love, Coaching, and Resilience

This Father's Day, my thoughts naturally drift to my own dad. He's taught me so much, and his love has been a constant presence in my life. I remember him as an epic hockey coach, guiding our teams to almost every championship game, even if we only took home the trophy once. Those experiences, more than the wins, taught me about perseverance and effort.

His love and continued support are a profound part of my journey. Looking back, I truly believe I might not be sober today if it weren't for the time I spent working alongside him, renovating the house after I dropped out of college. We went to work together every single day, and that structure, that shared purpose, was incredibly helpful. He taught me to observe the world, how to interact with people, and the importance of asking inquisitive questions. He instilled in me a foundation for success, showing me how to approach life from a place of abundance.

For all these lessons, for his unwavering love, and for the countless ways he's shaped my life, I am deeply grateful. Today, and every day, I choose to love this journey, to create from a place of gratitude, and to breathe magic into every moment.
