The Hard Reset: Confronting Self-Sabotage and Reclaiming My Life

Today, I’m talking about something deeply personal, something I’ve been wrestling with: self-sabotage. Am I standing in the way of my own happiness and future? The simple answer is yes.

Every time I put off something important, it’s a form of self-sabotage. Take this very writing, for instance. I’ve delayed it all day. There was a time I’d leap out of bed, eager to write. Now, with publishing on the horizon, it feels different. Or maybe, I’ve just fallen into a bad habit of waiting.

It's easy to push things to "tomorrow," but "tomorrow" often never comes. It's time for a hard reset. Time to look in the mirror, make different choices, and get back on track. I’ve stumbled, but now I’m getting back up.

The Gym: More Than Just a Workout

One major area where I know I can make a change is my happiness. My happiness isn’t at its peak, and a big piece of that puzzle is the gym. I had an incredible 60-day run, and then, foolishly, I didn't rejoin right away.

I’m proud of my consistent 100 push-ups a day and averaging over six miles walking daily. Those are solid wins. But the gym? That’s a must for me. What I truly miss isn't just the workout, it's the sauna conversations. I know how that sounds, but connecting with other men, sharing perspectives on world topics, and just talking was incredibly important. I can spend too much time in my own head, and that’s rarely a good thing.

Getting different perspectives, talking to people, and breaking a sweat – these are vital for me. I’ve been talking about rejoining the gym for over a month. No more talk. It’s time to commit. Let’s go for 30 days and see what happens. This is about taking new actions, making a real change, and staying accountable. Showing up. Making the choice and sticking with it. This is how we take responsibility for what we want in life.

Cutting the Kryptonite: My Digital Detox

My commitment extends beyond the gym. For the next 30 days, I’m also making a conscious effort to minimize my YouTube and Instagram consumption. These platforms are my kryptonite, sucking away precious time and focus. Recognizing this is key. It’s about being free from the past and steering toward where I want to go. It’s about loving and savoring the process, appreciating the journey, and course-correcting when I get off track. This is all part of life. It’s about loving myself and others, and holding my head high through both the low and high days.

Building a New Future: Beyond the Comfort Zone

So, here’s my new commitment: I will rejoin the gym tomorrow. I’ll go six days a week for the next month, maybe even all seven with one day dedicated to something different. I’ll keep the 100 push-ups going strong.

But this isn't just about fitness. I'm locking in on more. It’s time to build another venture, to create something significant beyond these daily writings and videos. The time has come. I can make all the excuses in the world, but it’s time to make different choices. It’s time to build a new financial future for myself, to take things into my own hands and change.

This won't be easy. Shifting deeply ingrained habits never is. It will require making tough decisions, savoring the process, and embracing life. To get results few people ever experience, you have to be willing to do things they never will. It means being unique, being different.

The Only Constant is Change

Life is about taking inventory, making new decisions, and letting go of what no longer serves you. It's about being proud of who you’re becoming and willing to shift and keep changing. Change, baby, change! It’s the only constant in the universe.

Here’s to making 37 the best year of my life. To locking in on my fitness, my work, a relationship, and being the best version of myself. This is part of the game, part of the adventure. We can evolve, we can shift, we can become something different. To get results we’ve never had, we must do things we’ve never done before.

So, will I finally rejoin the gym tomorrow? That’s the big question. The time is now. It's summer. It's my life. I can keep doing things the same, or I can choose to change. And I choose change.

I'll check back in 30 days about my fitness journey. Wish me luck!
